Galentine's Day, which is a combination of the words ‘gal' and ‘valentine,' is an unofficial holiday that occurs every year on Feb. 13.  It's a day for women to celebrate friendship with the important women in their lives.  Although it's not an official holiday, it is celebrated by millions of people all over the world.  Many businesses now run Galentine's Day-related promotions.  The idea was created by Leslie Knope, a fictional character from the popular TV series Parks and Recreation.  The term was first used in 2010 in an episode from the second season of the show.  In the episode, Knope says every year on Feb. 13, she gathers with her closest friends to have brunch, “ladies celebrating ladies.”. The term was also mentioned in episodes of Parks and Recreation that aired in 2012 and 2014. By the mid-2010s, Galentine's Day had become an unofficial holiday celebrated all over the world.
