The debate surrounding tipping at restaurants continues to rage on, with different cultures having different takes on tipping etiquette.  Regardless of your thoughts on tipping, here are five things that you should keep in mind when you're considering tipping.  If you're dining in the US, it's important to remember that tips are a major part of the server's income, so do your best to be generous.  If you feel the service has been average, the consensus is that you should leave 15% of your bill as a tip and 20% if the service is above average.  Another thing you should keep in mind is that, in most restaurants, the tips are split equally among all staff, including those in the kitchen.  When it comes to serving larger groups, restaurants may add on a service charge, so ensure that you're aware of their policy.  Try your best to be understanding of any mistakes that are made, especially on a busy night, while not allowing them to impact the size of your tip.
